Omniety

Clark Ashton Smith

I am the master of strange spells
Whereby the past is made tomorrow,
And April blows in fields long fallow,
And Dis unseals Hyblaean wells.

From out the house of incarnation
I pass with ether or with air,
In climes and times of otherwhere
Resume my destiny and station.

Loosed from the coils of space and number,
I am the shadowy self who stands
Kissing your lips, holding your hands,
Warding your labor and your slumber.

Dream not to escape me, day or night,
Even in the passionate arms of others,
For I am one with all your lovers,
Sharing their pain and their delight.
